After returning to Florida in 2016 and settling in Edgewater, I followed City Council to become more informed and active within the community, re-joined my local League of Women Voters, found some art organizations to support, and began networking with small business organizations throughout the region.

Over the six years between unpacking and deciding to run for the District 3 seat, I had attended meetings and reviewed livestreams to learn more about local issues firsthand. Serving my HOA Board, I had shared pertinent actions with the neighbors and relied on the City’s public facing services to guide those deliberations and take thoughtful action. By 2022, I felt comfortable standing for election to City Council. Having run before, I’m well aware of the rigors of campaigning, but I’m bad at self-promotion, so that’s always been a hurdle for me. I narrowly lost the primary bid, by only a handful of votes, and went on about my business. It’s doubtful I’ll do that again, but here are the handouts that I designed … that part was fun!
